VIOLINIST AND VOCALIST JENNY SCHEINMAN LEADS A TRIO FEATURING GUITARIST
BILL FRISELL AND DRUMMER BRIAN BLADE IN ZANKEL HALL ON MARCH 23

On Saturday, March 23 at 9:00 p.m., the Jenny Scheinman Trio—featuring violinist and vocalist Jenny Scheinman, guitarist Bill Frisell, and drummer Brian Blade—makes its concert hall debut in Zankel Hall performing a program entitled Songs With and Without Words. Scheinman, whose music incorporates elements ranging from jazz to folk and country, is recognized both for her virtuoso violin work and as a song stylist. For this engagment, the all-star trio performs a selection of works that showcase the versatility of the group, including new songs and instrumentals written by Scheinmen with Frisell and Blade in mind. Of the group’s musical chemistry, Scheinman notes, “…Whenever there are fewer players there’s more vulnerability, more exposure, more intimacy, more flexibility. I like the possibilities.” The group reunites for this concert following a successful residency at New York City's famed Village Vanguard jazz club in December 2011. Their forthcoming CD will be released later this year.

Prior to this performance, starting at 8:00 p.m., ticketholders are invited to enjoy Late Nights at Zankel Hall, a laid-back pre-concert experience. The first 200 ticketholders to arrive will receive a complimentary drink courtesy of Carnegie Hall. For more information, please visit carnegiehall.org/latenights.
