ISRAELI SIBLING JAZZ TRIO, THE 3 COHENS, PERFORM ORIGINAL WORKS AND STANDARDS IN ZANKEL HALL ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 15

The brother and sister jazz trio that comprises the 3 Cohens—clarinetist and tenor saxophonist Anat Cohen, and her brothers, trumpeter Avishai, and soprano saxophonist Yuval—perform infectious original compositions and joyful New Orleans-influenced standards in Zankel Hall on Friday, February 15 at 9:30 p.m. Along with a rhythm section that features pianist Aaron Goldberg, bassist Omer Avital, and drummer Jonathan Blake, the 3 Cohens share works from their latest record, Family (2011, Anzic Records), which celebrates their dedication to making music together.

DownBeat magazine states, "Rarely in the history of jazz family bands have siblings so successfully created a unified group sound with as distinctive an identity as the Israel-born Cohens." Of their work together, the siblings note, "Every time we play again it is so special… For us, sharing a stage is not just three siblings who play together; it is also a constant reminder of the gift of life. That's why we have decided to have this band."

Prior to this performance, starting at 8:30 p.m., ticketholders are invited to enjoy Late Nights at Zankel Hall, a laid-back pre-concert experience. The first 200 ticketholders to arrive will receive a complimentary drink courtesy of Carnegie Hall. For more information, please visit carnegiehall.org/latenights.
